Overview

RAD’s Pneumatic Collet Grippers are designed for the precise picking and placing of parts that are uniform in size. A precision collet is enclosed in a housing that is tapered to conform to the outside diameter of the collet. The collet is linked to a double-acting piston and as the piston actuates, the collet is forced to either “open & extend” or “close & retract.”

Note: Collet Grippers are best suited for applications where production parts have tight tolerances since collets are precisely manufactured for a particular part dimension.

ASSUMPTIONS Used to Determine Maximum Payload:

  • System Pressure = 100 psi (6.9 bar)
  • Maximum Acceleration/Deceleration = 1G – 386 in/s2 (9.8 m/s2)
  • Part Friction (µ) = 0.25
